Therapy is often a big step, and it's understandable that you would have more questions; don't hesitate to ask.

Is it possible to make a self referral to Salus Psychological Services?

Yes, it is possible to make self-referrals. Please email us via our contact page detailing your reason for referral. You will be contacted soon after we receive your email.

What services does SPS provide additionally to therapy?

Salus provides additional services, such as training, media work, service evaluation, research and medico-legal work.

What happens at my assessment session?

You will be given the opportunity to talk about your problems and the impact it has had upon you. Based on this, an understanding of how many therapy sessions you will need to address your problems will be agreed. If you have already had funding agreed to commence therapy then therapy will commence by your next session. If you have not had therapy agreed, then your therapy will commence as soon as funding has been agreed.

Will I be able to stop having therapy before I complete my allocated number of sessions?

Most clients find therapy helpful. In some cases clients achieve their treatment goals before there allocated number of sessions is complete, so they are discharged sooner. If however you are not finding therapy sessions helpful, it is important that you feel able to discuss this and if appropriate you are welcome to stop receiving therapy at any time during your treatment.
